-- space wives ( thirteen first sees river but river already knows who she is ) -- space wives ( both of them having their first meeting ) -- space wives ( river's first meeting but thirteen has met her a few other times in her past ) -- space wives ( first time ) -- space wives ( aphro / kink play ) -- space wives ( tease / distractions ) -- space wives ( risk of discovery ) -- space wives ( telepathy ) -- river&charles ( first meeting / the first time he uses his telepathy ) -- river&charles ( sex + telepathy ) -- vanessa&charles ( sex ) -- vanessa&charles ( powers exploration )
( the auction was due to start in under an hour giving river plenty of time to scope out the people that had arrived to attend, listening in on as many conversations as she could to see who might be after her item.
she'd arrived in a floor-length blue dress with a light sparkle to it, curls pinned up, cleavage a little deeper than usual in an attempt to draw attention to herself rather than the auction. the thing was, despite how obvious a show it was, it was working -- she was already drawing more than a few glances.
river had a glass of champagne in hand as she watched the room, finding her eyes slowly drawn to one attendee in particular, someone that didn't seem to fit in with the auction or the rest of the crowd. she was beautiful, short blonde bob and eyes that were appraising just as river's had been.
with a smile on her lips river steps over, leaning down to whisper-- )
I think there could be some interesting competition here.
( The thing about regenerating is that it takes time. Bodies take years and years to fully form and a Time Lord is doing all that in a split second. Bursting into creation in the blink of an eye. Death is traumatising in itself, but coming back --.
Coming back does something to a person.
And it's not just changing physically either. It's like becoming a whole, brand new being with quirks and habits that are new and sometimes frightening. She's done this thirteen times. Thirteen times. It never gets easier. In fact, she's still brewing even now, a day or so later. Part of her feels like a whistling kettle someone's left on the stove.
So she can be forgiven for blinking at River without much recognition. She knows she should know. She just doesn't know what she should know. )
Ooh, I like a good competition. Especially one where I get a free bat.
( Or whatever auctionees use. She doesn't quite know. )
( there's a low chuckle and river can't quite decide whether this woman has ever been to an auction before or if she's very good at being daft. it reminds her of someone that she knows, someone that she misses terribly.
(especially when an adventure is at hand)
river moves to the side of her, a sip of champagne as she continues to watch those around them )
I've heard a rumour about one of the pieces. ( not that she elaborates on it, instead pointing over to a very scaly humanoid ) He's someone to watch for.
( She's already decided this woman is someone she should be friends with. She's got the best hair, and gorgeous eyes, and her smile is a little wicked and that's interesting enough for the Doctor to lean in a little more, to look at the other person with wide, curious eyes. )
Why? What's he up to?
( The Doctor knows she's here for a reason. What that reason is she doesn't quite know. But she does want to bid on one of the items anyway. A little toy with a Celtic ( Gallifreyan ) knot. And besides, she likes shouting. )
Maybe he wants to spend all his money on the slimy thing that smells like peaches.
( she hates these teenagers for being able to get into her head but at the same time-- god, it pained her to admit it but mattheusz had been right. she needed to see someone. it wasn't just about whether she could have this baby and live but the fact that she had no idea what was going on. one child instead of a litter? nevermind the fact that it was cross-species. and since she currently looked human--
there were too many questions and she really didn't know enough. it didn't help that the first six months had effectively passed in... forty-five minutes. that was what charlie had said. damn the cabinet.
it leads to her, in the very late hours of the night when she should be sleeping, calling the doctor. who even knew if they could help but... an alien was the better prospect than a clueless human )
I need a favour.
( she speaks as soon as the phone picks up, completely expecting someone else to talk )
( That's definitely not a gruff Scottish man. Instead the voice on the other end is a overly friendly Yorkshire woman. Maybe the Doctor should start sending out a regeneration bulletin, but honestly it never occurs to her. )
I was just thinking about you! ( Was she? Who knows! ) What is it? Do you need me to pop over? I've got time.
( Graham's roped her into wandering around Asda and she's so, so bored. Half of her is hoping someone might start a food fight. )
( that is definitely not the voice that quill is expecting. even weirder the person knows her name and sounds absolutely thrilled to hear from her.
maybe thrilled is a little bit of an exaggeration but any sound other than groaning is something different for quill. she's nice. and polite. this is weird )
Who are you?
( if it sounds like a threat-- yeah, it kind of is. who are you, how do you have the doctor's phone and how do you know her name? )
( See, she knew the suspenders were a good choice. They don't just help keep her trousers up! Being manhandled by a beautiful woman always makes the Doctor's day. )
Something dashing.
( Her eyes spark with life as she looks at River, her own hands coming to settle against her wife's hips. No matter how long they're parted for, she's always glad for this. The burst of love and want that feels like falling in love all over again. )
That's why I'm here, obvi. I need to sweep you off your feet!
( her smile turns a little devious, fingers nimbly working to unfasten said suspenders. keeping your trousers up is just detrimental to what she's thinking )
I have a better idea than that.
( she leans in to kiss her, hands cupping her wife's cheeks, all of her passion, the longing that she's felt in their separation releasing into the kiss.
she's going to let you know how much she's missed you and then make you come all over again )
( meme round-up )
( wish list )

( river chuckles, giving a helpful little tug on those suspenders, moving her into her office quicker )
And just what have you been doing?
( her eyes are gazing over the sight of her, the messy hair-- oh, you were fighting, weren't you sweetie? that sword is not just for show.
there's a little push backwards, river's other hand having pushed the door shut, pressing the doctor against it now )
