[He knows something's different, but not necessarily wrong, since he hasn't shared his bed with anyone since the day he found out what happened to her.]
Good morning.
[He was still, very much not awake, but it was the first good morning he's meant in a while.]
( she leans up to kiss him, though there's something about it, a little caution or doubt that makes her pull back slightly. and it's as she frowns that it starts to dawn on her, making her pull fully back from him. Sitting up a little embarrassed )
( not about the sex, the ache between her legs was a fond memory of that being only a few hours ago, but that this wasn't her universe. she's half-looking away from him, tucking her hair behind her ear )
And you lost her. I don't want you to hurt because I'm here.
[It takes him a minute to try to think of a way to explain it. Half of this is probably going to sound like something she knows already, she's lived some version of their lives together.]
I miss her. Every day, I think about something we did, or what she would say or the looks she'd give me across the bridge when someone suggested something absolutely insane that she knew I was going to agree to. We depended on each other a lot. Not having that anymore, I didn't know what I was going to do.
[This is getting weird.]
You said it last night. I'm him. You're her. There're differences, probably a lot of them, but we're still the same basic people. So right now, I don't. I'm getting the chance to be with someone I thought I was going to never see again.
( she may have it very differently but she knows the stories, those looks across the bridge, that two weeks they shared at his cabin. and they were really the same people )
But I might leave. More like last night wouldn't be fair to you if I left, not in making you lose me again.
( he'd have incredible memories, the time he never got before, but then that pain again )
I'm not saying we should do that or that I expect us to... ( even if their lives in both universes were falling that way ) But I want you to be okay.
[But he doesn't sound too upset about that at least right now.]
You'll be going back home, back to your Chris. I know how he feels without you there, and I don't want him to go through this longer than he has to. I'm glad we get to be together, somewhere.
[Both Chris' love her. He can be 100% sure of that. It's a much broader outlook than he thought he was going to have when he saw her sitting in that hospital room, but maybe some sleep made him look at things a little differently.]
Last night wasn't one sided. I want you to be okay too.
( she says it as if it's obvious because after last night and some sleep for perspective it is to her, it doesn't feel as weird as it could or probably should. not with love )
You're not some other man... our histories are a little different from something in this universe but you and him are the same man by what it is that makes you you. ( and that's said with a little passion ) I love him which means I love you. You make me as happy as he did.
( because she loved him, because of how he cared for her, in everything intimate and romantic and just as her best friend )
Whatever happens... we'll both gain something and lose something. Gain each other now but lose it if I go back.
( if she went back she'd gain by still having chris. if she didn't go back he'd lose her there, she'd have this chris. it was messy and simple and complicated. but they'd have each other in some form )
( it takes her a moment before she realsies that he's right, that the only reason he commented on just that was for a very good reason )
That's the only thing that matters.
( there's a very small smile. and strangely... a story comes to mind )
Did you ever meet Captain Georgiou here? She died in our universe but another version of her, a different one to this universe, was brought to our universe. Starfleet made a cover story but had her live out the life of the Captain Georgiou she was supposed to be.
( would una want to do that? to be captain here, to live someone else's life? or rather her alternate life? what would she do otherwise? though she'd probably find something )
If I was stuck they'd need some explanation and Starfleet Intelligence wouldn't want to admit the existence of another universe, not with the unknowns.
( and not when there's multiple of them )
It won't just be Starfleet Medical that talks to me.
( yesterday it had been but she knows there'd be more to come )
I know they won't. Marcus doesn't want to admit much of anything. He doesn't think the Fleet at large needs to know half of whatever the hell secrets he has in Section 31. He and I have disagreed over a number of things.
[And how they treat Una is going to be the next one.]
( she nods, waiting for him to move before getting out of bed, moving over to the replicator. it takes some time to find what she wants, a sleeveless blue tunic with black leggings, taking them back to the room he'd offered her to freshen up before dressing. though she'd had to replicate everything to do that, making a little collection on the dresser of her hairbrush, make up and shower products.
she's got her hair in a ponytail when she emerges, barefoot for now, silent pads of her feet down the hall as she makes her way into the kitchen )
[He's off to shower and change into his gray Starfleet Uniform. When he comes out from the bathroom, his Jacket goes on one of the kitchen chairs that he assumes will be unused, leaving him in just his undershirt and pants.]
( she nods again, a sweet smile at the thought of strawberries that isn't very sweet at all -- if he gets them out whilst he's making the pancakes she'll eat them already. especially in this situation )
What are the ship uniforms like?
( curious to see if they were the same in both universes )
[He gets to work on breakfast, and yes the strawberries are put right on the counter. He already cut their green tops off.]
Division colors are yellow for command, red for operations, and blue for sciences and medical. There's a shirt and pants option, and a two different dresses, short and long sleeved. Ranks on the sleeves except for the short sleeved dresses. All of the uniforms have knee high boots, and black undershirts.
Starfleet's insignia is printed in the fabric for all the divisions. Mine's in my closet, if you want to take a look.
( she's got a mouth full of strawberry when he offers, nodding and disappearing to look, though taking another strawberry with her first, back after not too long )
They're similar but not entirely the same. We have one dress, though it's more a tunic than a dress, long sleeved only, black and department colour. I wear that most often.
( her jumper otherwise. sometimes she misses the other uniform, it fit nicely )
What do you think they'll do? Let me stay free, give me her life... lock me away?

I'm sorry.

[There's a smile there, and he's even happy for the kiss that follows. Her 'I'm sorry' is what wakes him up fully, and gets him to sit up.]
For?

It's possible. She...there wasn't a body.

I'm prepared. I also have a few things he won't from my universe.
( like her experience with georgiou )

[And he's amused by that too.]

( she might need a few of them )
Would you be able to catch me up more over breakfast? I read the reports, that's not what I'm asking for but prepare me for today?

[He starts to get out of bed.]
I'll shower, then get started on breakfast.

Is there anything I can do?
( other than coffee as she's making that anyway )

Just decide what you'd like to have.
no subject
( there's a raised eyebrow, a question rather than just asking for them, not wanting to make him have them if he didn't want them )
I miss the yellow.
( grey drained the colour from him )

[He hopes she still likes them.]
My duty uniform is still yellow. Academy Instructors get this. I like the jacket.

The easiest route is to tell everyone they found an escape pod stranded on a planet. Then you'd just be her, which isn't too far off.
[He goes about mixing batter, and making some perfectly done pancakes. There are eggs in another pan.]
I know it's going to be difficult to convince them you aren't her.
