They will, and I'm not ready to give her up just yet. Besides, she just had some upgrades, and my kitchen's nicer than ever, but you know command. Once they get the next hotshot captain in their sights they aren't going to let it go.
[He's not planning on going anywhere until that offer of Fleet Captain is made.]
Well, wherever you go you need to make sure you keep a kitchen like this.
( would she make a similar request for her ship? she enjoyed his kitchen, enjoyed cooking but she didn't do it in the same way he did. there wouldn't be crew dinners, that was his thing )
And if you've got any tips... I haven't thought about it yet.
[He had to think about this for a little bit. He knows what's worked for him, but for Una it would be different.]
Let the crew think they're getting away with something, let them have a little unsupervised fun.
[Like, even though you see that 'doors open' light pop up on your chair during a particularly boring mission and you know there're a couple new crew members venturing out on the hull, don't reprimand them.]
( but she'll bear his advice in mind. she worked well as a contrast to him but she'd need to find a contrast to her, someone that hopefully fit as well for her. though how she was as a first officer wouldn't be entirely the same as what she'd be as a captain. she assumed )
Though all of these are tips to pick up then. Anything could be different by then, and who knows who I'd get.
Even though it's impractical, I really like the fireplace. Just gets rid of all the gray. Maybe a bathtub, you can get rid of all the stress in your muscles after a hard day of sitting in that chair.
( and una knew that she wouldn't get to use it nearly enough, she'd need her own first officer to tell her to get off duty, probably, but those moments when she did get to relax in it would be even better for it )
I was one wall I can change too. Programme scenery into it, be somewhere else almost when I need it.
( not a full holo experience but more projecting an image. just across the whole wall. she knew it was doable, she'd even do some of the work on it as that was not a standard upgrade, but maybe she'd even sneak some scenery of home in. pass it off as just a planet she'd visited )
It's something I like about these quarters, I can change what I can see out of the windows. Looking at space is nice, but sometimes you need a change. An entire wall like that would be great.
[Not to mention being able to see movies wall sized.]
( she's also going to be honest and say she's tried never really thinking about that, even when he's sneaked them aboard. better to play ignorant than to have a hurting heart.
so she'll scoot around the table, kissing his cheek )

[Besides, he figures by then he'll need the distraction. The promotion means the end is closer than he'd like.]
I'm sure they already have their sights set on someone better than me, but thank you.
no subject
Well, they'll have to get this ship from you.
( kidding. she's not suggesting a fight but she's not ready to give up this ship yet. there's history )
And I hope that isn't for a long while.

[He's not planning on going anywhere until that offer of Fleet Captain is made.]
So do I.

[Well that's a little embarrassing then.]
Even though it's impractical, I really like the fireplace. Just gets rid of all the gray. Maybe a bathtub, you can get rid of all the stress in your muscles after a hard day of sitting in that chair.

( she might also not get other opportunities depending on whether there was some necessary task whilst the crew enjoyed their leave )
Are there any sights you'd recommend?
no subject
no subject
( she'd rather be there for the hikes she does. that's what she goes to the desert for )
I might make sure some forests are in there.
( they reminded her a little more of home )
no subject
[They remind him of home, but he loved the Mojave Desert. He nods at her mention of forests.]
Were there a lot of forests on your colony?
no subject
( trees to hide in and explore. the same trees you'd climb later as an adult for different purposes )
It seems a safe thing to put up, especially if they're from another planet.
no subject
And the trees might look different but it's the same general atmosphere.
no subject
( and a story she won't get too in depth with him. some memories should stay buried )
no subject
I used to spend days in the desert. Why did you stay in the tree?
no subject
( which is definitely not convincing sounding )
I'd... the closest you'd call it was camped but we were in a tree. It was quiet and private.
no subject
[Because he did not believe 'Good views' at all.]
I did the same thing in the desert. It was just nice to be alone I could just relax.
no subject
My boyfriend. Who I'm not telling you about. That was a long time ago.
( and whilst they're not bad memories she left a lot of this back on illyria )
no subject
I won't ask, we both have past partners.
[But he does hope he was a good person and didn't treat her badly.]
no subject
We do.
( she's also going to be honest and say she's tried never really thinking about that, even when he's sneaked them aboard. better to play ignorant than to have a hurting heart.

Besides, there's a better future for both of us.
no subject
There is, isn't there?
[He doesn't say they only have a decade, if they make it that far. He's going to enjoy the time they have.]
no subject
( maybe she'd take him into a tree too ).
Though there are a lot of other things we can do. And it's nice doing something for the first time with you.
no subject
What else would you like to do?
[Fishing for date ideas? Maybe.]
