( una could count on one hand how many actual dates she'd been on, how much was more than just a casual drink and sex, the thhing she usually only then gave herself time for. rarely still.

And without thinking about it I'm not sure what I usually do counts as a date.

( except anything could be. hiking and camping could be a date if you both enjoyed it, especially getting to stargaze or cuddle up in the tent later. or have sex. all were options )

There's an exhibit on Mars I've always wanted to see. I never usually think it's enough of a reason to go.

But I also don't remember the last time I went on a real date, so it's not really you I'm worried about.

( it's a joke, she's not really worried and her last date wasn't as long ago as she's making it out to be. but he gets the idea, less familiar territory, even if she knows him well enough to make the whole experience comfortable. it was the word giving her more trouble than just spending time with him )

We'll be fine. We've handled a lot worse.

['Date' did change the boundary of what they're doing together, but so did 'shore leave in Montana'. He's sure they'll come out better for it.]
