( she's certainly not been back to the gardens yet and everything else... it could be described more as personal searching )
I've been trying to remember what being here felt like and realising that it never felt like home. ( the fact that the planet started to, his cabin, having somewhere comfortable to go to-- )
There are nice things here but it's back to feeling so strange.
[ Not quite work, but it's something that's taking up her time. He wishes it were something else, like the plants or lab work, at least it'd be more entertaining. Distracting. ]
I know what you mean. It's been weird gettin' used to all this again for me, too.
[ He wouldn't go so far as to call the planet home, or the ship. Neither truly felt like it to him. But at least the last time he arrived here, he'd come almost straight from the Enterprise. After four months with his feet on solid ground, it definitely feels weirder. ]
Not really, no. I spent the majority of my time either on a ship or a starbase, the few times we visited planets it was for much shorter periods of time— and we always knew we wouldn't be there long.
[ So not quite like this last planet. For a moment there Leonard actually thought they'd have to get settled there for good. ]
( and unlike what he might think she doesn't mean any kind of childhood but centuries ago, when she'd still been immortal )
But there hadn't been much. No technology like the ship, just yourselves, the people around you and finding a way to live. Some parts were very peaceful.
[ There's still something about the way she says it that intrigues him. He shoots an eyebrow up, looking vaguely amused, vaguely puzzled, but not wanting to press either way. Still, he is admittedly curious. ]
Thought things would be a little more advanced than that, even in the late 20th century...
