[ She's put out a call to Lilith, only moments before, candles lit around her at the pulpit. Zelda is in the desecrated church again - the spell Lilith given her had worked, and the energies in the church changed drastically in the last few weeks. While the coven and the Academy fell back into a routine almost bordering on normal, Zelda's head was elsewhere. It was distracting, the way that she couldn't stop thinking about her.
And not in the way that she'd thought about the Dark Lord. When she had thought about the Dark Lord, it was in an attempt to curry favor, to put herself in the headspace of a well-behaved witch doing his will.
She didn't think about Lucifer very much, if at all. But she did think a lot about Lilith.
Zelda eventually went to Hilda about it, seeking her wisdom in the banality of traditional relationships, but Hilda didn't prove to be helpful at all. Hysterical, maybe, far too excited at the prospect of her sister becoming involved with the Queen of Hell - precisely the thing Zelda was attempting to think around. So, in her hour of despair, she sought out the advice of someone she would have never gone to about such a delicate matter, someone whose wisdom was lacking in any matters of actual importance.
But even Zelda had to admit, Sabrina knew quite a bit about finding normalcy in the absolutely bizarre, especially when it came to relationships.
She's still not sure if what the girl suggested will be at all useful, but she imagines it's worth the attempt. So Zelda put on a nice dress (not her worst, of course, but not her best, either - she didn't want to look like she was trying too hard) and went to the church to contact Lilith.
All she can hope is that the other woman hasn't changed her mind, and will respond. ]
( lilith heard all of the calls that came to her, some louder than others depending on how they prayed to her, how much they truly desired her will. she'd have been lying to say that she wasn't keeping an additional ear out for any calls from the spellman household though lilith had kept herself busy, hell making that incredibly easy for her.
but then it comes. the prayer from zelda, that familiar voice that some days she'd perhaps longed to hear from. she still did, zelda had worked her way into her heart even if unintentionally and though she was an expert at tucking away her feelings it did still slightly warm her to hear from her.
zelda will feel the energy shift as lilith teleports in, that loud power that fills the room even though the demoness is behind her. not that it matters considering she speaks )
High Priestess.
( she's not leading personal even if she'd prefer to. it's a mistake she won't make again and even though lilith still feels for her, would still like her close-- she's going to be much more guarded this time )
Your spell was successful.
( she can feel the change in the room since the last time that they'd been there )
( she doesn't soften, doesn't even move. her expression is curious, wondering whether zelda had thought about what she'd wanted as lilith had left her to or if this were something else that she'd thought of.
well, they'd find out soon, and if zelda were wasting her time she'd find out the consequence of that. affection wouldn't save that )
[ Nodding, Zelda takes a deep breath. She's not entirely sure where she's going with this - she hasn't rehearsed it, know that in all likelihood, Lilith would do something unexpected that would make any rehearsals meaningless, anyway. ]
I hope you don't mind. I've sought guidance from Sabrina in this matter. I'm afraid I am not at all experienced in pursuing a relationship that is not driven by the individual's best interests. She, however, is a bit more versed in such matters.
( lilith really shouldn't be surprised by this and yet part of her is. it isn't surprising that sabrina would have a suggestion, the girl had had her own relationships, ones more successful than her own and some she's even talked to lilith about. but for zelda to ask her niece?
really, it surprised her that zelda had asked for advice at all, that she hadn't simply kept it private. but it was nice to know that she had asked someone, that she did want something. that perhaps it wasn't simply about power )
[ Zelda isn't sure what even brought on asking. Perhaps this was just something too important for her to forget about. ]
Sabrina proposed that I... [ Straightening her shoulders, Zelda lifts her chin. If she is to be rejected, she will do so with pride. ] Ask you on a date.
( those are not the words that she thought would come from zelda's mouth, though considering that the advice came from sabrina it fitted.
but a date? it makes her quiet for a moment, expression thoughtful, seeming to consider it. because she is. lilith's had a lot of experience in her life, relationships that were generally solely sexual in nature but-- a date? something so simple and almost mortal? she's never been on one.
well-- she's had dinner with adam, had taken that walk with him-- but those are experiences that lilith actively tries not to think about, to bury deetp within her. they can't help her now.
or can they? )
A date.
( she finally takes a step forward and though she hasn't yet accepted it she also hasn't outrightly rejected it )
And what would this entail?
( what did zelda envision doing on a date? what would a date between these witches even be like? )
[ Zelda reminds herself that the question in itself is not rejection, although she does feel frustrated. She's trying. Dates weren't normal for her, either; she and Faustus' relationship consisted of sexual encounters that cumulated in her basically forcing him to propose.
But she's also not sure how to answer. Sabrina had given her suggestions, but they all seemed so... mortal. Of course, they were better than Zelda's ideas, on account of the fact that they at least existed. ]
There's a cafe that the children in Greendale frequent. Hilda works there. Perhaps we could go there and-- [ She struggles for a moment. What do mortals do on dates? ] eat together.
( with sabrina, calming heads after all that had happened at tommy kinkle's funeral, driving her blade a little deeper.
but that was the past and this-- it was so simple. and nice. she might have suggested a walk, remembering that fondly with adam but truthfully the cafe was likely better. they'd be able to sit and talk )
Tuesday.
( it's a quick word for her acceptance but it doesn't need too much fuss. that part is to come )
2pm.
( a nice lunch. besides, evenings were busier in hell )
[ The middle of the school day, and not during one of Hilda's shifts. The timing couldn't be better. Zelda would have Lilith all to herself.
Granted, an afternoon lunch didn't leave much opportunity for certain other kinds of encounters but... Perhaps that was to come. Perhaps, Zelda imagines, it might be nice to take things slow for once. ]
[ Zelda does manage to see it, and it swells her heart. For the first time in weeks, she feels lighter, like the weight of the world has been lifted from her shoulders. ]
Then. And it was a pleasure, to be able to see you again.

Lilith.
