( she was supposed to be helping. "helping". there wasn't any choice about it, charles had made that perfectly clear when he'd agreed for the both of them but then again he also hadn't had much choices.
shield. it sounded entirely bullshit and yet they were the ones holding the cards. the tears in space and time had started getting noticed and this time it wasn't unit in control. they'd started by saying that they wanted to understand it, close it to keep people safe. and then they'd discovered the aliens.
it didn't matter that they had friendly contacts with other species or even powered people working with them. honestly, it probably wouldn't have mattered if they'd treated her like royalty given the base disdain that quill had for all human life but these people, an organisation-- oh, she really didn't trust them.
but, other than the shackle in her brain, there were no chains. she was (mostly, she recognised the restrictions) able to walk about as freely as she wanted. they'd actually asked for her help. she'd spent time around this tear and given her job they'd recognised that she could be useful. at least they weren't entirely stupid.
just mostly.
it was why she'd stuck around to help, sitting in a chair, flicking idly on her phone and half-listening to whatever this silly scientist was saying. he was smart, a lot smarter than most humans that she'd met but-- )
You're wrong.
( considering that she doesn't even look like she's heard a single thing that he's said (ever) it's incredible that she's responding. but she's right. though, in earth standards, what he's saying is true it's just incredibly outdated physics. she can't blame him, humans are very backwards and not as advanced as even the quill (she's not touching the rhodia), but if she wants this tear to be permanently closed (and she'd love that, having a quieter "life") then she supposes that she should help at least a little )
